Alan Tudyk to Voice The Joker in Harley Quinn Animated Series
While we’ve known for three weeks that fan-favorite actor Alan Tudyk is part of the voice cast of DC Universe’s upcoming Harley Quinn animated series, his role has remained under wraps — at least until now.
Diedrich Bader, who reprises his role as Batman, revealed in a new interview that the Firefly and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story actor will voice The Joker, stepping into the big shoes of Mark Hamill. Christopher Meloni (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Man of Steel) will play Jim Gordon, Bader added.

Describing Tudyk as “hilarious,” Bader told Discussing Film, “I did a [recording] session with him a while ago, and he’s very funny as Joker.”
Starring Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory) in the title role, Harley Quinn follows the DC antiheroine fresh from her break-up with The Joker, as she sets out to score a place on the Legion of Doom. Targeted to debut in October 2019 on Warner Bros.’ new DC-branded streaming service, Harley Quinn has been billed as an adult animated comedy, something Bader underscored in his interview.

“It’s funny,” he said, adding with a chuckle, “There’s a lot of dirty language in it! I’m not going to be watching it with my kids, at this juncture — maybe in a couple of years, when they’re a little bit older. It’s definitely an Adult Swim-esque take on it, so it’s darker, but it’s very funny. […] It’s gonna be a rockin’ good time.”
Harley Quinn’s voice cast also includes Lake Bell (In a World…, Wet Hot American Summer series, Children’s Hospital), Alan Tudyk (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Ron Funches (Powerless), JB Smoove (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Jason Alexander (Seinfeld), Wanda Sykes (Black-ish), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Natalie Morales (Bojack Horseman), Jim Rash (Mike Tyson Mysteries) and Tony Hale (Arrested Development, Veep).
