The new take on the franchise tweaks many of the little details of the original series, which ran from 1998 to 2006. Both versions of the show center on a pair of sisters who, after the sudden death of their mother, discover a third elder sister they never knew about.
On top of that, the trio also learn that, together, they are “The Charmed Ones,” some of the most powerful witches in the world. Uniting to stop the demonic forces targeting them and the world at large, they are guided by their Whitelighter, Harry Greenwood -– a new take on the original series character, Leo Wyatt.
The reboot features a more diverse cast of characters, making two of the sisters Hispanic, while the other is of Afro-Caribbean descent. The names of the characters have also changed, turning Prue into Macy, Piper into Mel and Phoebe into Maggie.
