Don’t Expect a Runaways and Cloak & Dagger Crossover Anytime Soon
Don’t expect to see the Runaways team up with Cloak & Dagger anytime soon.
When Freeform and Hulu teamed up to air the first episode of Runaways following the finale of Cloak & Dagger Season 1, it led to speculation that the shows may be preparing for a potential crossover in their upcoming second seasons. Unfortunately, though, it appears as though the chances of that happening soon are slim to none.

While a second season has been ordered for Cloak & Dagger, it’ll be a bit before the series heads back to production. Thankfully for fans, however, production is well underway on the second season of Runaways, and showrunners Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage had no problem teasing what viewers can expect from the forthcoming season. According to Schwartz, while a crossover between the two shows isn’t in the cards just yet, there will be more Marvel Cinematic Universe references in season two. “We’ll have a reference that’s late in the season that will probably be our first real bread crumb that connects to the MCU,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.
However, while a crossover looks to be out of the cards for now, both parties have previously expressed interest in crossing over. In fact, Cloak & Dagger showrunner Joe Pokaski seemed to suggest that talks have already occurred to try and make it work. Of course, with the shows being on separate platforms, it may not necessarily be that simple. “I’m a big fan of what Josh [Schwartz] and Stephanie [Savage] did on The Runaways and we’re always talking about when do we get to do our crossover. There’s probably 400 lawyers in the way,” he said in an earlier interview. “I’m excited for however Cloak & Dagger can play in the universe.”
