Quantum and Woody TV Series Finds a Home at TBS

A television adaptation of the Quantum and Woody comic book series has found its home at TBS. The series will be executive produced by Avengers: Infinity War’s Joe and Anthony Russo, alongside Spy’s Mike Lacocca. Two more Marvel Studios alums, Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, who are credited with writing Ant-Man and the Wasp, will pen the series’ pilot.

Created by Christopher Priest and Mark Bright, Quantum and Woody first debuted in 1997. The series follows adoptive brothers Eric Henderson and Woodrow “Woody” Van Chelton, who are brought together after years of estrangement to solve the perplexing murder of their father. The two acquire superpowers while investigating the murder.

After being exposed to an experimental energy source, the brothers find they have the power to generate deadly energy bolts and summon protective shields. The only downside, if it can be called that, is that they must slap together their metal wristbands every day to keep from dissolving at the molecular level. Valiant rebooted the characters in 2013 with a series from James Asmus and Tom Fowler.

Valiant was acquired by DMG Entertainment earlier this year. According to Deadline, the company is currently exploring its options with studios for more TV and movie adaptations. In the meantime, the Quantum and Wood series joins several other Valiant series that are getting adapted by Sony Pictures — the result of a deal in place before Valiant was acquired. Bloodshot, Harbinger and Faith are among the series Sony is slated to bring to the big screen.
