Stranger Things EP Hints at Mind Flayer’s Return for Season 3
The children of Hawkins, Indiana might be done with the Mind Flayer, but it sounds like the Mind Flayer isn’t quite done with them.
When asked by TheWrap who would win in a battle between Season 1’s Demogorgon and Season 2’s Mind Flayer, Stranger Things executive producer Shawn Levy offered up his two cents, while also possibly hinting at the latter’s return.

“I’m going to go with the Mind Flayer since he’s kind of the uberlord of the Demogorgon,” Levy said. “I gotta think his power is more formidable. Beyond that I don’t think I can get into the answer without divulging too much.”
While Levy’s statement was certainly vague, his fear of “divulging too much” does lend credence to the possibility that the Mind Flayer could be just one of the surprises in store for the upcoming third season.
Little has been revealed about Season 3 of Netflix’s hit sci-fi series, aside from the fact that it will introduce a new evil to the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, as well as give poor Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) a bit of a break.
“We’re not going to put Will through hell for a third season in a row,” Levy said. “He’ll be dealing with stuff, but he won’t be at rock bottom the way we forced the amazing Noah Schnapp to play [previously].”
