Stranger Things’ Starcourt Mall Promo Pays a Visit to Steve’s Job
Steve Harrington has a new job for the third season of Stranger Things. Instead of babysitting and fighting off Demo-Dogs, he’s slinging scoops at the new Starcourt Mall.
Netflix has released a perfectly retro commercial for Hawkins, Indiana’s new Starcourt Mall, which features such stores as “America’s favorite place to cool down, Scoops Ahoy Ice Cream Shop!” Joe Keery as Harrington appears behind the counter alongside Maya Thurman-Hawke as Robin. Donning sailor uniforms, they greet customers with halfhearted “Ahoys.”
This promo follows through with actor David Harbour’s comment that Stranger Things Season 3 “is a specific season to 1985, and so you’ll see references to that.”

References to 1985 include a few notable nods to Back to the Future, with three clocks throughout the ad, and the narrator noting, “Today, Hawkins is taking another step into the future with the brand-new Starcourt Mall.” Watch out for the teenager jamming to a Sony Walkman and signature fashion trends, including scrunchies and unitards.
Stranger Things stars Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, David Harbour as Jim Hopper, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Noah Schnapp as Will Byers, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers, Joe Keery as Steve Harrington, Priah Ferguson as Erica Sinclair, Cary Elwes as Mayor Kline, Jake Busey as Bruce, and Maya Thurman-Hawke as the new character, Robin. The first two seasons are available now on Netflix.
