Supergirl: Jeremy Jordan Explains Winn’s Season 4 Recurring Status

Don’t expect to see Winslow “Winn” Schott Jr. in every episode of Supergirl Season 4. As Jeremy Jordan explained in a new statement, he is stepping away from the role for a while to pursue the next stage of his career and spend time with his family and friends.

“As many of you have heard by now, Winn will no longer be a series regular on Supergirl. However, this is not goodbye,” he reassured fans. “Although you may not see him puttering around the DEO every week, I love everyone in National City too much to stay away forever. Winn WILL return in Season 4.”

“Lately, my gut has been telling me that I’m once again ready to begin a new chapter in my life… and if I’ve learned anything, it’s that you’ve gotta listen to your gut,” he added. “So I want to thank everyone behind the scenes at Supergirl for understanding it was time for me to return home… to spend time with my wife and friends, and focus on crafting the next stage of my career.”

The CW announced Jordan’s recurring status last week. On the heels of that news, his character Winn was offered the chance to join the Legion of Super-Heroes in the Season 3 finale — an opportunity he seized, sending him to the 31st century while his friends stayed behind at the DEO. This will explain the character’s absence during Season 4. Jordan has been a series regular since Supergirl premiered in 2015.

Returning to The CW this fall, Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist as the Girl of Steel, David Harewood as Martian Manhunter, Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen, Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers and Jeremy Jordan as Winn Schott, with appearances by Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant and Tyler Hoechlin as Superman.
