Syfy’s Krypton Finds Its Lobo For Season 2
Syfy’s Superman prequel Krypton has cast Constantine actor Emmett J. Scanlan as Lobo, the fan-favorite intergalactic bounty hunter, in the upcoming second season.
Created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, Lobo debuted in 1983 in DC’s Omega Men #3 as a self-centered villain with a penchant for mindless violence, but he gained popularity in the 1990s as a parody of Wolverine, Punisher and other antiheroes. The cigar-chomping, ruthless Czarnian possesses extraordinary strength and regenerative abilities.

The producers of Krypton announced in July at Comic-Con International that Lobo would be introduced to the cast for Season 2, joining such DC comics characters as Adam Strange, General Zod and Brainiac. Set two generations before the destruction of the planet, the series centers on Superman’s grandfather Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe), who’s warned by the time-traveling Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos) of a threat posed to Krypton that could alter the future, ensuring the Man of Steel is never born. Although for much of the first season the characters, and the viewers, are led to believe the danger is an attack by Brainiac, it’s ultimately revealed to be something else entirely.
