The Walking Dead Debuts First Season 9 Teaser, SDCC Details

The Walking Dead is returning to Comic-Con International in a big way later this month.

AMC announced its Hall H plans for the popular survival-horror franchise, confirming Yvette Nicole Brown will replace Chris Hardwick as the moderator for the Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead presentations. Accompanying the announcement is the first teaser poster for the upcoming ninth season of The Walking Dead.

The poster highlights series mainstays Carol, Michonne, Rick, Maggie and Daryl. Although Rick and Maggie are front and center in the image, the new season will be the last for both characters, as stars Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan make their exits. Norman Reedus is expected to be elevated to the lead role as the fan-favorite Daryl Dixon.

Also seen in the background of the poster are the ruins of the U.S. Capitol. With the past several seasons taking place in Alexandria, Virginia, just across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C., it looks like the nation’s capital will figure prominently into Season 9.
