Titans’ Debut Trailer Declares, ‘F*ck Batman’
The brutal first trailer for the DC Universe Titans steaming TV show has premiered at Comic-Con International, and man — it is not for kids.
Created by Greg Berlanti, Geoff Johns, and Akiva Goldsman Titans will focus on Officer Dick Grayson (Brendon Thwaites) who has, apparently, had some sort of falling out with Batman (“Fuck Batman!”) crossing paths with Rachel Roth (Teagan Croft), a young girl possessed by “a strange darkness.” Together, Dick and Rachel meet Koriand’r (Anna Diop), Gar Logan (Ryan Potter), Hank Hall (Alan Ritchson) and Dawk Granger (Minka Kelly) who are only scene briefly in the trailer.

The show seems to be borrowing from the legendary Marv Wolfman and George Perez New Teen Titans in which Raven’s trouble with her demonic father, Trigon, inspires her to seek the help of younger, more rebellious heroes — but with a decidedly more violent twist. It’s hard to tell whether or not Robin is actually breaking Batman’s first and most important rule and murdering the thugs we see him fighting, but it’s a distinct possibility that this version of Dick Grayson will prove to be considerably darker than his comics counterpart.
Titans will be streaming on DC Universe, DC’s new streaming platform set to go live this fall. Episodes will be available weekly. Pre-orders for annual DC Universe subscriptions have been made available at DCUniverse.com.
