Walking Dead: Our World Mobile Game Announces Launch With New Trailer
After a significant delay, Next Games has announced the release date for its new, Pokemon GO-style mobile game, The Walking Dead: Our World, which will arrive July 12 on iOS and Android.
The game was originally announced in August 2017, more than a year after Pokemon GO captured imaginations with its “augmented reality,” which uses the GPS on a players’ mobile devices to lead them to Pokemon characters at specific locations, visible through the screen.

The Walking Dead: Our World will take that same approach to the world of zombie-slaying, as players will be able to kill walkers that will appear as though they’re interacting with our world. Next Games released a trailer for the game to go along with the announcement of the July 12 release.
Players will be able to interact with most of the popular characters on AMC’s The Walking Dead television series, including Rick, Daryl and Michonne. The interactive features of the game will allow you to come across playable aspects of the game based specifically on your environment. As the game’s website notes, “Explore and Defend Your Neighborhood. Get out in the real world to move your avatar in the game. Collect stashes, find missions and rescue survivors with other players.”
You might notice, however, that the trailer is heavy on humor (a guy appears to be taking a lot of photos of a trio of women, but in reality he is firing at the walkers he sees all around them), and light on how the actual gameplay.

The trailer released last year had more examples of gameplay, but we can’t say for sure whether it’s the same as the final product.
With Pokemon GO now shockingly just as popular today as it was when it debuted, this would seem to be a great time for the release of The Walking Dead: Our World to bring zombies into the world of augmented reality.
