Why Legends of Tomorrow Isn’t Part of This Year’s Arrowverse Crossover
Just because Legends of Tomorrow won’t be part of DCTV’s annual crossover event on The CW doesn’t mean they’re feeling left out.
With production for the ensemble DC show in full swing for its fourth season, it was revealed last week that the series will not be included with the network’s annual crossover event narrowing the focus to Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl. Despite this exclusion, the show plans to move steadily along “liberated” from the massive logistical obligation.

“Tonally, we are so different from those other shows at this point, it’s hard to jump back into that world with the other Arrowverse shows. And we did it last year and it was of course this gargantuan production and pre-production,” explained executive producer Keto Shimizu in a press roundtable with Cinema Blend this past weekend at Comic-Con International. “For four shows to do that again and to try and make it bigger than last time, I just don’t think it’s possible. I think the crossovers are going to be a lot different in general than what we’ve seen.”
This year’s crossover has been announced to formally introduce Gotham City and Batwoman to the Arrowverse though the Legends will be busy hunting magical monsters that were accidentally unleashed throughout the timeline by the team in the third season finale. While the team won’t join their fellow DC shows in Gotham this upcoming season, Shimizu hinted there may be references to being left out of the crossover.

“We’re just gonna do our own thing and have fun and maybe we’ll be like, ‘Why can’t we get anyone from Star City on the phone? Is something going on over there? Did we get left out of something?'” joked Shimizu.
Returning to The CW on Monday, October 22 at 9 pm ET/PT, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow stars Caity Lotz, Dominic Purcell, Brandon Routh, Nick Zano, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Tala Ashe, Matt Ryan, Jes Macallan, and Courtney Ford.
